Both aluminum and copper wires are high-quality conductors and are widely used in the electrical industry. The IEC standard does not specify which conductors to use. Anything that can meet various performance requirements such as electrical, mechanical, and heating can be applied.   The insulation structure and test voltage of the aluminum winding transformer and the copper transformer are exactly the same, but the single wire gauge of the aluminum wire transformer is larger, and the number of winding turns is larger, so its electrical strength and insulation margin are better than copper wire transformers .

In order to improve the mechanical strength of the wire, the surface of the wire can be coated with thermosetting epoxy resin. After the winding is heated and dried, several wires are bonded and solidified together, which is better than resin. The adhesion is very good, and the elastic modulus and Dynamic stability performance.

Aluminum is easily oxidized by air at room temperature and can replace oxygen in water. However, since a dense aluminum oxide film is easily formed on the surface of aluminum, which protects itself, it will not be further oxidized. This will affect the aging of transformer oil. It's much smaller. After aging and oxidation experiments on aluminum wire, it is proved that the stability of aluminum wire to oil is higher than that of copper wire, and the oil aging degree and acid value increase slowly, so the service life of oil is relatively extended.

Aluminum wires are relatively softer than copper wires, so the wires are relatively close when winding, and the gap is much less than that of copper wires. Therefore, the overall stability and compactness of aluminum windings are relatively better.

Therefore, it is appropriate to promote the application of aluminium winding transformer in small and medium-sized transformers, and it is even more necessary for countries lacking copper resources.
